Audi RS7 Performance v Tuned RS3: DRAG RACE

Mat’s brought along his new long-term test car, the Audi RS7 Performance, and he’s racing it against an Audi RS3! But this is no ordinary RS3 - it’s had an ECU remap and a recalibrated gearbox, and it just may have what it takes to compete with the RS7! So let’s check out the stats. Starting with the RS3, it’s equipped with a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo. This would normally produce 400hp and 480Nm of torque, but following the tune it can now produce 500hp and 630Nm! It only weighs in at 1,510kg, and it costs around £30,000. Then we have the RS7. It packs a 4-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 630hp and 850Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels, and it weighs much more than the RS3, tipping the scales at 2,065kg! It’s also so much more expensive, costing around £133,000! So the RS7 is up on power, but it’s also well up on weight! Will the weight difference prove decisive? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

FIRST DRIVE: 1016bhp Ferrari SF90 XX Spider – How Hardcore Can A Cabrio Be?
Ferrari’s track-only XX cars are rare, thought to number around 116 in total, spanning Enzo-based FXX, 599XX, and LaFerrari-underpinned FXX-K, plus their uprated Evo variants. But now the XX tag has been applied to Ferrari road cars. Hardcore ones of course, but while the first – the SF90 XX Stradale – is reassuringly expensive and the fastest-ever road car around Ferrari’s Fiorano test circuit, the company will build 799 of them. And, when we drove it in late 2023, it wasn’t quite all we thought a road-going XX should be. You could argue that’s okay. The XX sub-brand has been established – and can now be exploited – while Ferrari’s best clients switch their focus to the £5m 499P Modificata, a derestricted Le Mans car. And yet, there’s now a convertible XX, the new SF90 XX Spider. A sacrilegious step too far, too soon?
