Toyota Hilux v Isuzu D-MAX: OFF-ROAD CHALLENGE!

We’ve got our hands on an Isuzu D-MAX, and it’s about to face off against a Toyota Hilux! They’re two incredible pick-ups, and they’ve both been worked on by the team at Arctic Trucks, which means they come with a number of upgrades including wide-body kits, upgraded springs and dampers, wider suspension and huge 35-inch tyres! So let’s see how these pick-ups compare. Starting with the D-MAX, it’s powered by a 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine that can put down 164hp and 360Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels, and it tips the scales at 2,205kg. It’s also equipped with a low-range mode as well as a rear locking diff. Alongside it is the Hilux, which has a 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel under the bonnet that puts down 204hp and 500Nm. It also comes with off-road tech like in the Isuzu, although it is a bit heavier, tipping the scales at 2,325kg. Both these trucks come in at just under £70,000 once Artic Trucks have gone to work on them, but which will come out on top in this video? You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

Technical highlights include industry-leading Active Vehicle Dynamics, Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers, Electronic Rear Differential (E-diff) and AML-specific 21in Michelin Pilot S 5 tyres Top speed of 202mph, 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds Powered by a heavily reworked, hand-built 4.0 Twin-Turbo V8 engine the new Vantage is the fastest in the nameplate’s history. With peaks of 665PS and a colossal 800Nm of torque it also makes the biggest-ever jump in power and torque compared to the model it succeeds, those increases of 155PS and 115Nm equating to gains of 30% and 15% respectively. These higher outputs have been achieved through extensive tuning by Aston Martin engineers, the adoption of modified cam profiles, optimised compression ratios, larger turbos, and increased cooling yielding the impressive new figures and creating an engine with a sharper, more visceral and more vocal character. Mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission this is enough to propel the two-seater sports car to a top speed of 202mph and punch it from a standstill to 60mph in just 3.4sec. Both the shortened Final Drive Ratio (3.083:1) and transmission shift calibration have been honed to maximise response and enjoyment, the former delivering punchier in-gear acceleration, while the latter reduces shift speeds and offers different shift characteristics to suit each of the Vantage’s dynamic modes. Standing start acceleration has been perfected with the introduction of a new Launch Control system. Fully integrated with the powertrain, transmission and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), when engaged by the driver, Launch Control allows the car to deploy as much torque as conditions allow, using the E-Diff, ESP slip control and engine torque management to keep wheel slip in the optimal range throughout the launch. The driver can also dial-in the precise amount of slip they desire during the launch by making changes via the Adjustable Traction Control (ATC) system – reducing or increasing the amount of controlled wheelspin permitted by the Launch Control System or allowing themselves full throttle control by setting the ATC to Traction Control (TC) Off. Liberating additional engine performance has increased thermal load, which has required a complete redesign of the engine cooling system. To ensure stable intake air temperatures are achieved in all conditions, an additional low temperature radiator has been fitted to the charge cooler water circuit, with a further two auxiliary coolers added to the existing central main radiator to further increase thermal capacity. The oil system has also benefitted from extensive upgrades, with the auxiliary outboard engine oil cooler now boasting twice the face area of its predecessor. 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Review // DRAG RACE & LAP TIME
The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N ($78,199 starting in Canada, $66,100 starting in the US) is the first EV to receive the N treatment from Hyundai. A dual-motor, all wheel drive system makes a maximum of 641 horsepower and 568 lb ft of torque. To live up to its N counterparts, the Ioniq 5 N sees numerous performance focused improvements over the normal model. This includes some serious things like fully redesigned suspension, meatier tires, and exterior design elements to help with cooling and aerodynamics. But how does it handle the track? FIRST LOOK: 2024 Porsche Macan – Best-Selling Porsche Goes Electric
This is the new Porsche Macan, and it is now an electric car. Which is a punchy move by Porsche. When the Cayenne and Macan SUVs are your bread and butter models globally (with the Macan being Porsche’s best-selling model in the UK), going full EV early feels… bold. There will be two initial models – the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo – both of which will be on Porsche’s new 800-volt PPE (Premium Platform Electric – which is incidentally the first time Porsche has electrified an existing model), both with dual-motors and all-wheel drive, and both get the same 100kWh battery, of which 95kWh is useable. Range is slated at 380 miles for the less powerful Macan 4, 367 miles for the faster Turbo, so you’ll be looking at high 200s in the real-world. Which is all very nice. But it wouldn’t be a Porsche if it were slow or cumbersome, so Porsche hasn’t skimped. The Macan 4 puts out just over 400bhp at max and hits 62mph in 5.1 seconds with a 137mph top speed. The Turbo is capable of 635bhp with launch control, can hit 62mph from rest in just 3.3 seconds and run on to a 162mph max. Currently, a basic Porsche Macan with a 263bhp turbo petrol 4-cyl engine costs £53,400. The most expensive six-cylinder Macan GTS weighs in at £71,700. That’s good value. But, inevitably, the electric version will set you back more – it’s priced at £69,800 for the Macan 4 and £95,000 for the Macan Turbo.
