Six hundred and fifty-six horsepower is what you’ll find in the new Aston Martin Vantage. But it hasn’t just upped the power and stuck on some new badges. There’s more poke, sure, but miles better tech in inside, a sharper edge to the drive and some slicker looks – including that mammoth front that grille that’s needed to provide 50% more cooling than the old car. Under the bonnet we have bigger turbos, more cooling, new cams – and a revised agreement with AMG that means Aston can sprinkle a little more magic into AMG’s base unit, upping power and torque to 656bhp and 590lb-ft respectively. We’ve got our hands on the awesome Tesla Model S Plaid, and it’s facing off against an insane Corvette C8 that’s been tuned to 1,200hp!! So let’s see how the two compare. Starting with the Tesla, it’s housing three motors under the skin that combine to produce 1,020hp and 1,420Nm of torque. Naturally, the batteries and motors weigh a fair bit, and the Model S tips the scales at 2,167kg. What’s more, this Model S comes with a few upgrades, including some Koenigsegg carbon fibre aero at the front & around the back! Then alongside it, we have the Corvette, which has had a whole lot more work done to it than just adding some aero! As a result, the 6.2-litre twin-turbo V8 now produces 1,200hp and an amazing 1,491Nm of torque! So it’s packing a serious punch, but this power is sent to the rear wheels only! So let’s take a closer look… Starting with the design, the Land Cruiser looks seriously rugged on the outside. It rolls up with a boxy-style design, coupled with a huge rear bumper and massive windows along the side and back to help let loads of light in. As you’d expect with a proper 4x4 it also comes with roof bars as well as running boards along the side, while up from the grille design harks back to the classic Land Cruiser design. It looks great! Step inside and there’ll be no mistaking that you’re in a Land Cruiser. There’s a fair bit of scratchy plastics throughout the place, but that can be forgiven because there are SO many physical buttons!
