New RS7 Performance v BMW M8 v AMG GT63: DRAG RACE

We’ve got Mat in the all-new Audi RS7 Performance, and he’s lining up against a BMW M8 Competition & a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door! So let’s see how these ferocious machines compare. Starting with the Audi, it’s packing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet that can produce 630hp and 850Nm of torque. Power is set to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it weighs in at 2,067kg. If you want to pick one up, it’ll set you back around £133,000. Then we have the BMW M8. Under the bonnet, you’ll find a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, and this can put down 625hp and 750Nm of torque. It comes with four-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 2,074kg. It’s slightly more expensive than the RS7, with a price tag of £138,000. Finally, we have the AMG. It’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 639hp and 900Nm of torque. It sends power to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 2,045kg. It’s the most expensive car here, costing around £154,000. So the AMG has the most power and the least weight! Surely it’ll be a walkover, right? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

FIRST LOOK: 2024 Porsche Macan – Best-Selling Porsche Goes Electric
This is the new Porsche Macan, and it is now an electric car. Which is a punchy move by Porsche. When the Cayenne and Macan SUVs are your bread and butter models globally (with the Macan being Porsche’s best-selling model in the UK), going full EV early feels… bold. There will be two initial models – the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo – both of which will be on Porsche’s new 800-volt PPE (Premium Platform Electric – which is incidentally the first time Porsche has electrified an existing model), both with dual-motors and all-wheel drive, and both get the same 100kWh battery, of which 95kWh is useable. Range is slated at 380 miles for the less powerful Macan 4, 367 miles for the faster Turbo, so you’ll be looking at high 200s in the real-world. Which is all very nice. But it wouldn’t be a Porsche if it were slow or cumbersome, so Porsche hasn’t skimped. The Macan 4 puts out just over 400bhp at max and hits 62mph in 5.1 seconds with a 137mph top speed. The Turbo is capable of 635bhp with launch control, can hit 62mph from rest in just 3.3 seconds and run on to a 162mph max. Currently, a basic Porsche Macan with a 263bhp turbo petrol 4-cyl engine costs £53,400. The most expensive six-cylinder Macan GTS weighs in at £71,700. That’s good value. But, inevitably, the electric version will set you back more – it’s priced at £69,800 for the Macan 4 and £95,000 for the Macan Turbo. And it weighs over four tonnes. 2024 Porsche Macan TURBO (640 HP) / All-electric SUV from Porsche
Porsche is launching its second all-electric model: the new Macan with powertrains of up to 470 kW (639 PS) delivers E-Performance on any terrain and a high level of day-to-day usability. Sports car-like performance figures are matched by high-performance fast charging at up to 270 kW and up to 613 km of range in WLTP. Ten years after its launch, the Porsche Macan is heading into its second model generation, now in all-electric form. Through its progressive, timeless design, characteristic Porsche performance, long-distance range and high everyday practicality, the new Macan 4 and the new Macan Turbo aim to completely fulfil the requirements of Porsche customers choosing an SUV. "We are taking the Macan to a completely new level – with exceptional E-Performance, the new Driver Experience, and a very impressive design," said Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, on the occasion of the world premiere in Singapore. "Our aim is to offer the sportiest model in its segment with the all-electric Macan," says Jörg Kerner, Vice President Product Line Macan. Porsche exclusively uses the latest generation of permanently-excited PSM electric motors on the front and rear axles to achieve excellent efficiency and enable optimum reproducibility of the power output. The numbers alone indicate top-class E-Performance: In combination with Launch Control, the Macan 4 produces up to 300 kW (408 PS) of overboost power, while the Macan Turbo boasts up to 470 kW (639 PS). The maximum torque is 650 and 1,130 Nm, respectively. This guarantees excellent driving performance. The Macan 4 accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, while the Macan Turbo takes just 3.3 seconds. The two models achieve top speeds of 220 and 260 km/h, respectively. New Premium Platform Electric with 800-volt architecture The electric motors draw their energy from a lithium-ion battery in the underbody, with a gross capacity of 100 kWh, of which up to 95 kWh can be actively used. The HV battery is a central component of the newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture, used by Porsche for the first time in the new Macan. The DC charging output is up to 270 kW. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent within approximately 21 minutes at a suitable fast-charging station. At 400-volt charging stations, a high-voltage switch in the battery enables bank charging by effectively splitting the 800-volt battery into two batteries, each with a rated voltage of 400 volts. This enables particularly efficient charging, without an additional HV booster, at up to 135 kW. AC charging at up to 11 kW is possible at household wall boxes. Up to 240 kW of energy can be recuperated via the electric motors while driving. The Integrated Power Box (IPB) also contributes to the efficiency of the new Macan models, while also saving weight and space. The innovative and compact IPB combines three components – the on-board AC charger, the high-voltage heater and the DC/DC converter.
